Melvin “Mel” Horner

Horner, Melvin P. “Mel”, 99, Johnstown, died peacefully on September 22, 2018 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born August 7, 1919 to the late Samuel and Pearl (Allen) Horner. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean (Shumaker); his brothers, Clyde, Robert, and Raymond. Survived by his daughter; Janet Drobnak and her husband George, Johnstown; his grandchildren, Lori Adamczyk, and Shawna Boley (Paul); his great grandchildren Matthew, Blake, Sadie, and Connor; his sister, Emily Jane Horne; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Melvin served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Co., where he worked as the chief clerk. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him, but especially by his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren, who fondly referred to him as “Pop-Pop”. Melvin enjoyed time with his family, watching sports, and playing golf. At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation or services.
